Architectural Sculpture, Stone Sculptor & Bronze
I carve stone for architectural sculpture, monument sculpture, restoration and conservation carving. Also create portrait sculpture in stone and bronze along with figurative bronze sculpture.
I like to draw my inspiration from the European and American style of sculpture. In Europe the style is of anatomical preciseness and gesture whereas the USA have a history of dynamic sculpture, often on alrge scale reflecting the vast landscape. The fine tradition of relief carving can be seen on many buildings around Europre, richly decorated with ornament, the human form aswell as mythical and anila sculptures. In the USA you can see large scale stone carving in the monuments of Mount Rushmore and such cities as Washington DC, The Gettysburg Sentinals and the buildings of Boston and New York. These influences combined give create something very interesting.
I sculpt bronze also and it is a beautiful material to work with. It is very versatile and can be shaped into many different textures and forms from heraldry, to the human figure, modern geometric shapes and anything the imagination can fathom. The nature of bronze sculpture means it can be very small and detailed or monumental size. Once shaped the surface can then be treated by the sculptor and can suggest a mood or tone which can add to the finished work of art.
